Spicy Tomato Chutney
Ingredients
- 4 Fresh medium sized Tomatoes chop into 4 parts
- 8 Green Chillies slit in length wise
- 2 Garlic flakes
- 2tbsp roasted gram dal (optional)
- 1tsp Jeera/Cumin Seeds
- 1tsp Avalu/Mustard Seeds
- 1 sprig fresh curry leaves
- 1/2tsp Urad dal/Minapappu
- 2 red chillies
- 3tbsp Oil
- Salt to taste
Method:
- Heat 2tbsp of oil in a pan. Add green chillies and fry for 2mins.
- Remove the green chillies and keep aside. In the same pan add jeera/cumin seeds, garlic and chopped tomatoes and fry for 10mins or until tomatoes are cooked. Remove the tomatoes and cool down.
- Now grind tomatoes, garlic, cumin seeds, green chillies, roasted gram dal and salt to a fine paste.
- Heat remaining oil in the same pan. Add Avalu/mustard seeds, urad dal, red chillies and curry leaves and fry for a minute in high flame.
- Add this tadka to the above paste.
- Serve this spicy tomato chutney with dosas or even with rice.
