Fish Pulusu




What You Need:

  • Fish - 1/2kg 
  • Onion - 1 large cut into 4 pieces
  • Chintapandu/Tamarind - 4tbsp 
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1tbsp
  • Dry Coconut Powder - 1tbsp
  • Fenugreek seeds/ Menthulu - 1 tsp
  • Curry Leaves/Karvepaaku - 2 sprigs
  • Coriander leaves - 1small bunch
  • Red Chilli Powder - 2tbps
  • Coriander Powder - 1tsp
  • Garam Masala - 1/2tsp
  • Cardamom/Elachi - 4
  • Cinnamon/Dalchini - 1small stick
  • Sajeera/Caraway Seeds - 1tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil - 6tbsp
  • Water - 2cups
Preparation:
  • Soak Tamarind in 2 cups of water for 15minutes. Squeeze the tamarind pulp in water. Take out the pulp from water. Keep that Tamarind water aside.
  • Wash fish pieces thoroughly using Lemon Juice, Rice powder and salt for 3 times. Then finally wash with plain water and keep aside.
  • Now heat 1tbsp of oil in a pan. Saute Onion and Fenugreek seeds/menthulu till onion turns golden color.
For Fish Masala:
  • Grind Onions, fenugreek seeds, ginger garlic paste, coconut powder to a fine smooth paste. Don't add water.
How To Cook:
  • Add fish masala to the fish pieces and mix it well.
  • Now heat remaining oil in a pan. Add Elachi, Sajeera, Dalichini chakka and saute for a minute.
  • Add Curry leaves, Coriander leaves, fish pieces and garam masala. Mix well and fry for 10minutes.
  • Now add Tamarind Water, Salt to the fry and mix well.
  • Bring to boil and cook for 15minutes in a low flame.
  • Now add Coriander/Dhaniya powder and switch off the stove.
  • Spicy, Delicious Fish Pulusu ready :)
  • Serve hot with Rice.
