Spicy Tomato Chutney


Ingredients

  • 4 Fresh medium sized Tomatoes chop into 4 parts
  • 8 Green Chillies slit in length wise
  • 2 Garlic flakes
  • 2tbsp roasted gram dal (optional)
  • 1tsp Jeera/Cumin Seeds
  • 1tsp Avalu/Mustard Seeds
  • 1 sprig fresh curry leaves
  • 1/2tsp Urad dal/Minapappu
  • 2 red chillies
  • 3tbsp Oil 
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  • Heat 2tbsp of oil in a pan. Add green chillies and fry for 2mins. 
  • Remove the green chillies and keep aside. In the same pan add jeera/cumin seeds, garlic and chopped tomatoes and fry for 10mins or until tomatoes are cooked. Remove the tomatoes and cool down.
  • Now grind tomatoes, garlic, cumin seeds, green chillies, roasted gram dal and salt to a fine paste.
  • Heat remaining oil in the same pan. Add Avalu/mustard seeds, urad dal, red chillies and curry leaves and fry for a minute in high flame. 
  • Add this tadka to the above paste.
  • Serve this spicy tomato chutney with dosas or even with rice.
