What You Need:
- Fish - 1/2kg
- Onion - 1 large cut into 4 pieces
- Chintapandu/Tamarind - 4tbsp
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 1tbsp
- Dry Coconut Powder - 1tbsp
- Fenugreek seeds/ Menthulu - 1 tsp
- Curry Leaves/Karvepaaku - 2 sprigs
- Coriander leaves - 1small bunch
- Red Chilli Powder - 2tbps
- Coriander Powder - 1tsp
- Garam Masala - 1/2tsp
- Cardamom/Elachi - 4
- Cinnamon/Dalchini - 1small stick
- Sajeera/Caraway Seeds - 1tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil - 6tbsp
- Water - 2cups
Preparation:
- Soak Tamarind in 2 cups of water for 15minutes. Squeeze the tamarind pulp in water. Take out the pulp from water. Keep that Tamarind water aside.
- Wash fish pieces thoroughly using Lemon Juice, Rice powder and salt for 3 times. Then finally wash with plain water and keep aside.
- Now heat 1tbsp of oil in a pan. Saute Onion and Fenugreek seeds/menthulu till onion turns golden color.
For Fish Masala:
- Grind Onions, fenugreek seeds, ginger garlic paste, coconut powder to a fine smooth paste. Don't add water.
How To Cook:
- Add fish masala to the fish pieces and mix it well.
- Now heat remaining oil in a pan. Add Elachi, Sajeera, Dalichini chakka and saute for a minute.
- Add Curry leaves, Coriander leaves, fish pieces and garam masala. Mix well and fry for 10minutes.
- Now add Tamarind Water, Salt to the fry and mix well.
- Bring to boil and cook for 15minutes in a low flame.
- Now add Coriander/Dhaniya powder and switch off the stove.
- Spicy, Delicious Fish Pulusu ready :)
- Serve hot with Rice.
