Beerakaya/Ridge Gourd Curry Recipe




Ingredients:

  • Beerakayalu/Ridge gourd - 2 chopped into small cubes
  • Tomato - 1 finely chopped
  • Onion - 1 chopped
  • Garlic - 4 flakes 
  • Ginger Garlic paste - 1tsp
  • Karvepaaku/curry leaves - 1 stem
  • Red Chilli powder - 1tbsp
  • Dhaniya(coriander) powder - 1tsp
  • Avalu/Mustard seeds - 1tsp
  • Jeelakarra/Cumin seeds- 1tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil - 3tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Method:
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
  • Add curry leaves, onions, garlic and fry for few minutes.
  • Now add ginger garlic paste and fry for 5minutes.
  • Add ridge gourd/beerakaya mukkalu and fry for 15minutes or until they become tender.
  • Once they are 3/4th cooked add tomatoes. red chilli powder, dhaniya powder and fry for 15minutes.
  • Now add salt. Finally garnish it with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
